I can't see why the code would behave that way (I can't see anything in 
.clean that explicitly checks for an alt), however it is worth noting 
that in (X)HTML the alt tag on an image is a required attribute, 
technically it could be considered legal behavior if the img tag was 
rejected if it was missing that.
