I really like it, great work. I am also seeing the issue Gilles mentioned, but if you could hunt that down, this will be awesome. I have had several half-hearted attempts to at create this myself but couldn't get around certain glitches in how it behaves. Yours is far closer to perfection though. Nice code too.
