Oh, and the pixel-shift problem in FF is most likely the now fairly well documented opacity triggered text-mode quirk of that browser (on Mac at least). I wouldn't worry about that - it will always occur whenever any on-screen element's opacity switches between 1 and .9999 or .000001 and 0 - as it does with fadeins.
