Last I knew, when you did something with a control surface, JAWS would give

It makes you're control surface speak. for example, if you arm a track
from you're control surface etc.

Something in your other projects layout got messed up then. Do you have
control surface monitering turned on in JSonar settings? (insert+v). If you do
and don't use one, turn it off. I had that problem and JAWS was basically not
reading a thing to me even though it was actually doing what I wanted it to.

I know it might sound too simple but sometimes just closing down
jaws and restarting it again so it difinitley loads the scripts correctly might
help.

In the track pane, Press alt+- and then x to maximize the window.
