I used Sonar LE and then home studeo way back when, and although I managed to achieve something with each, it wasn't until I got the Sonar Studeo, (and later Sonar producer via upgrade pricing), that I really got anywhere with my recording; I don't think I'm much of an expert, but I know about the aspects of sonar and the JSonar scripts i Use and the software isn't relaly the limiting factor anymore, its just my musical limitations, which I guess is how it should be...
Plus Studeo, and producer editions come with the added VST/Softsynths if I remember correctly the home studeo won't have all these; I basically jjust use the bundles softsynths and VST effects, with a couple of additional ones I purchased plus a few free/open source ones that just meet my needs.
