O I guess to really answer the question, yes VSampler  can load more samples
in various formats, but we can't do much in terms of editing them, it's
mostly inaccessible. With dimension pro, if you learn the sfz format, you
could probably have a better chance at messing with this. Not to mention you
can access most all parameters in dimension.
If you're going streight for sampling your own sounds, I'd say learn the sfz
format, how to program it, and you can use anything from the sfz player,
dimension or even rapture and probably dropZone and other cakewalk products,
as they are fully using their own format now.
But as I stated in the other message, VSampler is good if you'd like to load
various formats of samples but you don't need to mess with them in terms of
editing samples, switching keys or velocities  etc.
Problem is I don't know if you could still find it.
