That's interesting that you had latency issues with the delta cards, these are internal cards, and typically have better latency than any of the firewire interfaces, that's been my experience.

The new drivers control pannels are a bit more challenging, but under xp and the old drivers you get very good access and very good performance.

Older technology, but tried and true, I've had my delta's on many pcs with no problems.

YOu should use asio on older machines, and with wdm on newer ones, I've been able to get
under 1 ms latency with good performance.

That's pushing it, I typically loosen it up a bit to 3 ms and or 5 with large projects, which is still way ahead of many firewire and especially usb interfaces.

Since these are industry standard pci interfaces,
the chipset issues shouldn't be as much of a sticking point, though of course with any
daw,
your motherboard and supporting subsystems will matter.

One reason why these cards are still being made and have lasted the test of time.

M-audio does need to improve their w7 drivers though.

But they seem to be very lazy in this regard with many of their products lately.

If you can afford it, I would suggest you change sound card. I recently (as
of March 2010) changed my delta 66 card which I have had for over 11 years.
It served me well in the past, however as I started to get into more heavy
audio works, the latency issue whether in ASIO or not became unacceptable.
It simply became time to change to something else for that purpose. I
believe they suggest to set something in the audio section to "safe" in
ASIO, however this setting seemed to be unchangeable. I am now using
focusrite pro 24 dsp which was recommended by Phil and I am very very happy
with it.

Hi, how do I deal with the issue of all that latency in sonar? I'm running
sonar 8.5.3, windows7 32bit, and jaws 11. That's all I can say. Processor:
Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz
And Installed memory (RAM): 2.00 GB
What shall I do in order to deal with this?

Many thanks.
