Hi,
    you can give the href directly....it will prompt user whether he wants
to save it or open there itself..
like..

<A href="someword.doc">CLick Here</A>
or
<A href="somepdf.pdf">CLick Here</A>

i know this will definitely work in IE...since it registers all known
extensions...
got to try it with netscape tho'
