The best way is to use StoredProceedures. When you call
StoredProceedure.setString() it automatically takes care of all the encoding
that's required. Other than that, you have to handle it yourself.

Could anyone direct me to any methods that can be used to filter a
string which is to be inserted into an SQL table.
For example, if the string contains an apostrophie, I need to replace it
with an escape charatcter. Are there methods in the API that can take
