"It was Java Advanced Imaging. http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/jai/index.html I used about 0.1% of its capabilities - the main thing was that it provided a way to write images as GIFs. Most of what I used was the imaging stuff in the standard Java libraries - java.awt.image etc, which has all the stuff for setting up image buffers and drawing on them." Hope this helps.
