Try putting this line in properties: jspwiki.defaultprefs.template.skinname =PlainVanilla
This reminds me - I don't really like the way that the default template relies on stuff in jspwiki.properties. We should aim that whenever you upgrade, you don't have to hunt-n-peck new lines from jspwiki.properties to a new one. This is now true for e.g. timeformats, which should "just work" with the new template.
I propose that we either use the default preferences option of WikiEngine, or that we create a new "default_jspwiki.properties" which ships within the JAR file and contains sane defaults for most of the stuff which the user does not want to touch.
