According to http://www.jspwiki.org/wiki/VersioningProposal this is
fine. But don't forget about:
"Forward and backward compatibility within the same major.minor
revision is retained."

Yupyup. Unfortunately, we don't completely stick to this rule - sometimes things do break between major.minor.

* Votes on releases should therefore be based on building the project
from source and testing it with success.

This is interesting - this suggests that maybe I should just tweak my scripts in such a way it does not release binaries until such a time we're actually doing the final release...

Though I would like to see some informal approval of the binaries as well, so that I don't screw things up when building ;-)

These are points that are quite important to the ASF, Roy Fielding
himself had joined these discussions.

Very interesting, thanks!

Another point: Janne, don't you have to do a monthly report on the
project status? On the Jackrabbit mailing list, da draft of it is
published before handling it in.

It's every three months for incubator projects. Our next one is due in July.

All the drafts are submitted to the svn repo, under jspwiki/board, so if you're subscribed to jspwiki-commits you get notifications. Should they be circulated here too?
