I've been running parallel JSPWiki instances for a long time, apparently
successfully. However, now that I have looked at the JSPWiki code on
this, I don't see how I could have avoided the nasty collisions you
mention.

Tomcat than JSPWiki question, is how do you set up a different work
directory for each JSPWiki instance?

I'm thinking I'm not understanding your question correctly because the
answer (to me) seems quite obvious. I've been running multiple instances
as well (as many as five), but I've always set the work directories via
the jspwiki.properties file's "jspwiki.workDir" property, such that
none of the instances are using any of the same directories, not even
the user or group files (since in my case there is no reason).
