Yes, now that you say it, it is obvious. Problem is, I've never changed that from the default. Since I never had problems, it never occurred to me. In hindsight, I guess it's a 'duh!'

I'm thinking I'm not understanding your question correctly because the
answer (to me) seems quite obvious. I've been running multiple instances
as well (as many as five), but I've always set the work directories via
the jspwiki.properties file's "jspwiki.workDir" property, such that
none of the instances are using any of the same directories, not even
the user or group files (since in my case there is no reason).
