There was some talk about this on the Velocity list a few weeks ago. I'd mentioned that Perl folks can use PPM (Perl Package Manager) to retrieve and update libs from CPAN. Geir Magnusson mentioned a similar repository project for Jakarta... but didn't have the link until now. >From those links, I see that the idea has been tossed around for a while. There are a couple of non-jakarta projects, the oldest (I see refs back to 2001) and most recently active (website updated April 4th) appears to be CJAN -- obviously a rif on CPAN. ;-) http://cjan.org/ Seems to me the most important part is just getting the server-side working, pub an API. Then just let the public create clients for it. SOA in action, eh. Maybe CJAN has that already? Hatch, what's your take on this thing?
