Hello TJUGs.

My first post to the list to say hello and ask some of your advice.

I am new to the Tucson area.

 Welcome.

I am looking for a good bricks 'n mortar
technical bookstore with a large Java library as an alternative to online.

Ain't we all....unfortunately both Barnes & Noble and Borders have
been shrinking their computer sections over the past few years until
they are almost worthless. There are still occasionally good finds as they
get newly published books now and then, randomly.

Somewhat luckily for you, the two best stores of each are located
on your side of town: Borders in Park Mall and B & N down the
street at Rosemont and Broadway. I favor B&N because of their
frequent buyer card which, over time, saves me a lot of $$.
 Online is still cheaper, though.

p.s. I don't agree with Warner about the Oracle store. I live near
it and I find the other one to be consistently better for computer books.
(but neither is particularily great).

Really? Danielle told me that the Oracle store is actually much larger than the Park Mall store in terms of Computer books. I'll double-check with her. Note - I've never been to Park Mall, I hate that place ;-).

And I have to disagree with you on the B&N store there on Broadway, it is absolutely horrible I haven't been able to find anything but general tech books there for quite a while, even their O'Reilly section is pitiful.
