Hi all, here is a list of upcoming juggling festivals in the area. I suspect, at least some of us will drive to each one of those as a weekend trip and we can usually take more people. For CMU students, the juggling club may be able to cover accommodation costs.
If you are interested, say something at a meeting or send an email. * Feb 27-Mar 1: Pocono Juggling Festival in Lansford PA Smallish, nice juggling festival in scenic mountain town, about 4.5h drive from here. https://poconojugglecircusartsfest.yourwebsitespace.com/ * April 10-12: RIT Juggling Festival in Rochester NY Biggest regional festival in the area with over 300 attendees. If you can only make one, try to make it to this one. About a 4h drive. https://ritjuggle.blogspot.com/ * Early May: Congress of Jugglers in College Park MD Smallish festival on the UMD campus, about a 4h drive. Dates not yet announced, but usually the second weekend of May. https://www.facebook.com/congressofjugglers/ * May 30-June 7: Passout in Virginia Small specialized 9 day festival focused on club passing, sleeping/camping on site; about 4.5h drive from here. I'm co-organizing this one, so ask me directly if you want more information. * June 12-14: PhilliFest in Philadelphia Fairly large festival in a great circus space in a former church in Philadelphia; about a 5h drive. Also doable by Amtrak. https://circuscampusphiladelphia.com/JugglingFestival/ * July 27-August 2: IJA Festival in Fort Wayne, IN The IJA festival is fairly close this year, just a 4.5h drive. It's a week-long festival with strong shows and various competitions, with maybe 300-500 attendees. https://festival.juggle.org * November 6-8: FluggleBurgh in Pittsburgh Our own festival, a 15min bus ride from campus. Beyond these: In the fall, Cleveland has a festival (usually late September) that could be an easy day trip. The Big Red Juggling Festival in Ithaca, NY may happen again in early September together with the Hubstate circus festival in early September (https://www.hupstatecircus.org). In Canada, Waterloo, Kingston, and Guelph each usually have small festivals in the fall. Easy to fly to festivals are Mondo in St Paul, MN (next weekend) and Boulder, CO (usually early July). The big European one, EJC, is in August in Slovenia this year (probably >2000 attendees). For accommodations, we usually get a hotel or an airbnb at most of these festivals, but often you can find free crash space if you email the organizers. Best regards, Christian
