I think Uwe's suggestions are a good idea. Let me know if you get too
busy. I can try to squeeze the menu adjustment into my weekend.

Did you have a tentative timeline for the next release? I'd like to
get those two (2) layer bugs fixed first, but I'm not sure how much
time I would have left to get this done.
