Hi Nadine, currently DXF plugin transform a CAD drawing in simple objects. A large DXF file (around 34 40 Mb) can be imported in a 2 o less minutes. After imported save it in JML file format so next time it will be opened faster (5 to 8 sec) If you look at this page: http://openjump.org/wiki/show/CAD+Tutorial, you can find some usefull information about how to import correctly a CAD file in an OpenJUMP project. About TEXT, this is imported as point. to display it, go in CHANGE STYLE and set the LABELS, ENABLE LABELING=ON, LABEL ATTRIBUTE=TEXT to see the labels.
