Hi Michaël, do you think it is possible to reduce the memory usage of DXF plugin? @Nadine there are many ways to reduce dxf with multiple objects (TEXT, HATCHES, etc) in simple lines. Autocad is the best, unfortunatelly not free! But also Intellicad-derived software (like progecad) can do the same (using EXPLODE command, some of them are somhow free for personal usage. there are other usefull utilities CAD2SHAPE http://www.guthcad.com/cad2shape.htm is another software that transform DXF and DWG to Shp, It transform all annotation and hatches in simple lines. It is trial for 20 or 30 times, I think. DXF2POSTGIS http://www.glasic.it/dxf2postgis.html (freeware) seems to convert all DXF entries to postgis tables, but I have never used.
