Hi,

I'm not sure I understood the need :
- a command executing exactly one paste from the clipboard to the cursor position on next click - a kind of cursor tool able paste the shape contained in the clipboard everywhere one click until deactivation of this cursor mode.

I don't use copy/paste to duplicate symbols, because I think feature shapes described by geometries and feature symbols are two different things, and symbols should be managed by styles (aren't there some capabilities to create vectorial symbols around there ?).
But I'm not a geologist and I am happy to learn different uses of GIS :-) .

If people using this function have to call it very often, I suggest a combination of a key and the left mouse click to change the default selection mode to a "paste what is in the clipboard at mouse position".

just my 2 cents

I worry about overloading the context menus too. Actually, the view context menu is not too bad (just 21 entries). The layer name context menu is where it gets crowded (33 items, counting separators). I guess Peppe's original point was to keep paste together with copy. Also the new idea is to "Paste items at Click Point" which, like the Rotate menu item, needs to be a right click entry.

Regarding the clutter on the layer name menu, the recently added Extract options could be moved to the Layer main menu. We could also reduce some of the duplication like "Select Current Layer Items" which is a duplicate of Edit->Select Layer Items.

just a thought,

Larry

well.. you are the expert :)

but we may consider it not to move to the mouse menu but to a "normal"
menu.. because I already become the feeling it becomes to heavy.. the
    menu (just a thought)
would be cool to have submenus for the mouse (or maybe not ;)
