We have very different experiences then. I'm not claiming it's a
majority, but I will claim that many of the largest networks in the world
do, indeed, have true OOB management networks.
Just let me clarify that with "real OOB mgt network" I mean dedicated
media, switches and all or, more formally, independence of control traffic
from forwarding plane of what it controls.
We are using the same definition informally I think. Formally, I don't
know of any networks where the actual network control traffic (routing
protocols) are on a completely independent, out of band network, nor would
I recommend such a design for any use cases I can think of.
If you change "control traffic" to "management traffic" in your statement,
then I think we'd be in complete agreement.
