I don't have any direct knowledge, but from poking at things (e.g., the whois contact information for the kaitenmail.com domain) I don't get the sense that K-9 and Kaiten support are currently related. I.e., while cketti is providing support and fixes for K-9, it would appear that Kaiten-related issues would need to be directed to the support channel options given at:
