That is always tempting, and you will most likely never be caught.  However, if you write anything while working for a company, that company owns the rights it.  If you or anyone were to use it for something else you/they would be in violation of copyright laws, even if the company never registers it with the copyright office. 
 
I just went through trying to get something copyrighted for our company and found out that our contract gave ownership to the client after completion of the project.  We will most likely reword our contracts in the future.
