I tested it far enough to find out that I could get into KDB and type go and 
have the system continue to run.   Didn't do anything more than a "sniff" 
test though.

Nothing special.   I've tried it on all sorts of Opteron boxes, single core,
dual core, and a 2-way EMT64 box, and it fails every time.  I guess the common 
thread is that these are all SMP boxes, typically 4-socket things.   The 
SimNow case was for a simulated UP, but it was still the SMP kernel.
