(Either the particular greeter GL context - *in* the client - has trouble with its glyph cache or the greeter isn't shown at all and you see a superimposition of various paints onto the root window) I assume your problems are related to the lockscreen greeter. Can you disable screen locking (across STR) and see whether you still have problems?
