Note also that I would have no clue where breeze would allocate 250 Mb of data of any kind per instance ... Could you try compiling breeze from "master" rather than the branch and reporte if the issue persists ? there have been 'weird' issues at widget initialization between 5.5.3 and master, which i could not all reproduce, but 'fixed' on the machines where the problem occured, so it might be worth a try for you too.
