SUMMARY
Managing large hierarchies of tags/keywords can be a challenge in digikam via
the Tag Manager. It would be ideal to have the ability to import a text-based,
hierarchical list of tags (a controlled vocabulary) into the Tag Manager.
Lightroom, for example, has the ability to do this, and the list can be
re-imported at a later time so long as the root/parent tag remains the same.
The text list must be formatted in a way that Lightroom can read it. I would
expect the same of digikam.
I'm requesting this because there are a few existing 3rd-party controlled
vocabulary keyword lists out there (CVKC being one, totaling >11,000 terms)
that could be adapted to work in digikam if there were a way to import them.
Currently in the Tag Manager, the new "Import tags from a file to selected tag"
feature (under Sync Export) doesn't appear to preserve hierarchies and imports
tags in a flat list.
(Incidentally, the Documentation hasn't been updated with this new "Import
tagsā¦" feature, so it's unclear what constraints exist.)
