This lack of saving has been been a great annoyance for me, I have to disable
*two* assistant view options every time I open files which have any assistants
defined. (For documents with no assistants, the options mercifully make no
difference.) My use of assistants is very basic, infrequent, and consistent
across those files that have assistants at all, so these assistant views just
get in my way and distract.

If possible, I'd also like to see these three view options have global
defaults, applied whenever new documents are created or when documents are
opened that don't have defined values for these settings. Once these settings
start actually saving properly, it might be enough to use the settings from the
last active view (though for consistency when closing and reopening Krita, this
would still need to be saved among Krita preferences, so all this would
accomplish is avoid the need for more GUI options).

Tangential feature idea: A third "auto" state for the two assistant options
that shows or hides depending on whether snapping to assistants is enabled. I'm
not going to open a separate issue for this since for my needs the binary
toggle is sufficient (I just wish my preferences would get saved!), but it
would be useful for more varied use of assistants than my usual.
