Bug ID: 522599
Summary: HDR mode produces desaturated and incorrect
tone-mapping in specific Steam games- Armored Core 6
and Elden Ring (same engine)
Classification: Plasma
Product: kwin
Version First 6.7.2
Reported In:
Platform: CachyOS
OS: Linux
Status: REPORTED
Severity: normal
Priority: NOR
Component: colour-management
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected]
Target Milestone: ---
HDR in Elden Ring and Armored Core 6 (both using the same FromSoft engine)
produces a flat, washed-out, grey image after upgrading from Plasma 6.6.5 to
6.7.0. This was working correctly on 6.6.5. Other games with native HDR (e.g.
Starfield) are unaffected on the same system.
DESCRIPTION
When fullscreen mode is on in either game, toggling HDR "on" results in the
pale greyish tone-mapping.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Steam Launch Environment Variable: DXVK_HDR=1 %command%
2. Launch game in fullscreen mode, or select fullscreen once launched
3. Set HDR to "on"
OBSERVED RESULT
Desaturated color grading in HDR- SDR is unaffected (HDR toggled "off")
EXPECTED RESULT
Proper HDR color palette
