            Bug ID: 526464
           Summary: KRDC RDP plugin cannot transfer clipboard images while
                    xfreerdp 3.32.1 can
    Classification: Applications
           Product: krdc
      Version First unspecified
       Reported In:
          Platform: Other
                OS: Other
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: RDP
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
  Target Milestone: ---

Environment

- Kubuntu 26.04
- KDE Plasma 6
- KRDC
- FreeRDP 3.32.1 built from upstream sources

Problem

Clipboard text transfer works correctly.

Clipboard image transfer does not work in KRDC.

The same remote Windows host allows clipboard image transfer when using
xfreerdp 3.32.1 directly.

Investigation

I initially experienced severe clipboard problems with the Ubuntu-packaged
FreeRDP 3.32.0 libraries. To eliminate FreeRDP as a potential cause, I built
and installed upstream FreeRDP 3.32.1 into:

/opt/freerdp-3.32.1

I then forced KRDC to load those libraries via LD_LIBRARY_PATH and verified the
result using ldd.

Verification

Command:

LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/opt/freerdp-3.32.1/lib \
ldd /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt6/plugins/krdc/krdc_rdpplugin.so \
| egrep 'freerdp|winpr'

Result:

libfreerdp-client3.so.3 =>
/opt/freerdp-3.32.1/lib/libfreerdp-client3.so.3

libfreerdp3.so.3 =>
/opt/freerdp-3.32.1/lib/libfreerdp3.so.3

libwinpr3.so.3 =>
/opt/freerdp-3.32.1/lib/libwinpr3.so.3

This confirms that KRDC is using the exact same FreeRDP 3.32.1 libraries as the
standalone xfreerdp client.

Comparison

Using KRDC:

- Text clipboard works
- Image clipboard does not work

Using xfreerdp 3.32.1:

- Text clipboard works
- Image clipboard works
- File clipboard works

Test conditions

- Same Linux workstation
- Same KDE session
- Same Windows server
- Same user account
- Same FreeRDP 3.32.1 libraries

Conclusion

Because xfreerdp 3.32.1 successfully transfers clipboard images while KRDC does
not, despite both using the exact same FreeRDP 3.32.1 libraries, the issue
appears to be located in KRDC's RDP clipboard implementation rather than in
FreeRDP itself.
