            Bug ID: 527008
Summary: Automatic light/dark Global Theme applied at login is
saved to config but not picked up by plasmashell or
KWin, so the session stays dark
    Classification: Plasma
           Product: plasmashell
      Version First 6.6.6
       Reported In:
          Platform: Kubuntu

          Severity: normal

Debug log

DESCRIPTION
With the Global Theme set to Automatic (day-night cycle based on location), the
morning cold boot applies the correct light theme. The configuration files are
updated to the light theme, but plasmashell, KWin and running apps keep
displaying the previous dark theme. The failure is intermittent: a cold boot at
midday on the previous day came up light.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Set Global Theme to Automatic, with a light and a dark global theme,
schedule based on device location.
2. Let the evening switch to dark happen, then shut down.
3. Cold boot the next morning, after sunrise.

OBSERVED RESULT
Panel, desktop, window decorations and apps are all dark. The switcher logs
show the light theme being applied four times between 09:12:30 and 09:12:37. In
the same seconds, plasmashell is starting (09:12:30) and KWin has just started
(09:12:29). Each re-apply follows a small change in the calculated sunset time
as the location estimate is refined.

On disk afterwards, the light theme is fully applied:
- kdeglobals: LookAndFeelPackage=<light theme>; [Colors:Window]
BackgroundNormal=255,255,255
- The light theme's contents/defaults sets ColorScheme, icons, cursor,
decoration and Plasma style correctly.

The following each restore the correct light appearance without changing any
settings:
- restarting plasmashell (systemctl --user restart plasma-plasmashell) fixes
the panel and desktop
- busctl --user call org.kde.KWin /KWin org.kde.KWin reconfigure fixes the
window decorations
- newly started apps open in light
- logging out and in fixes everything

EXPECTED RESULT
The session displays the light theme after login.
