--- Comment #3 from Jon <jfbcommerc...@gmail.com> ---
Addendum: when I tested 18.04, I used the install .iso for testing. Since then,
I've upgraded my machine to the 18.04.2 release of Kubuntu and tried using
kdeconnect. It gave a message of Root>run>user> [phone id ] > primary does not
exist (using the 1.12.93 version of the Android app freshly installed from the
Google Play Store). After trial of many things, I found that I had to go to
the vertical "..." in the top right, choose "Plugin settings", "Filesystem
expose", select "primary/primary:" by holding it for a few seconds, then delete
it using the garbage can in the top right. I then chose "Add storage location"
and added SanDisk SD card, which again gave "primary/primary:" and again paired
with the laptop and the "primary" directory was now populated with
subdirectories that could be browsed.

It's not clear why this extra configuration is necessary---it might be deleting
leftover configuration from previous trials. Still, I'm documenting this in
case someone else has a similar issue.

This problem persists and requires the same actions across an uninstall and
re-install of the Android app from the store.
