I also noticed that the Windows packages load and save images very slowly. 
This could be due to the option set to teach MinGW C++11. At the company 
today, I was also amazed at how long it took to save a small HEIC file, so I 
am almost certain that it would work for you too. Another thing is compilation 
in debug mode, which slows down digiKam considerably. Gilles, my suggestion is 
to build the Windows packages without debug, we hardly get any useful 
backtraces anyway.
