I don't have this problem with 4.3.0 running on Windows 10 64-bit.
The Freehand Path and Bezier Curve tools work fine on vector and paint layers.
Is it possible that in the Tool Options docker, you have the Outline set to
Brush (Background Colour) with background colour set to white?
Can you go to krita-artists.org and make a report topic there. That is a
suitable place for this sort of discussion and the exchange of screenshots etc.
