            Bug ID: 470708
Summary: Kate "Intricate" Default Setting Breaks Formatting of
Files (Formatting Text Behind Users Back Without
                    Consent).
    Classification: Applications
           Product: kate
           Version: 23.04.1
          Platform: Archlinux
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: sessions
          Assignee: kwrite-bugs-n...@kde.org
          Reporter: kdelo...@mozej.com
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
Saving PROPERLY FORMATTED sha256sum/sha512sum in Kate breaks the formatting of
this sha text file. User properly formats the file, but Kate formats the file
on its own while saving without user consent.
***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Create properly formattted sha512sum of a file in Kate
2. Save it as xxxx.sha256
3. $ sha256sum -c xxx.sha256

OBSERVED RESULT
Fail to run sha256sum -c xxx.sha256, despite user proper input in Kate.
Frustrating users to no end, who wouldn't figure why their properly formatted
checksum fail, despite them putting everything correctly. User will assume Kate
is broken.

EXPECTED RESULT
DO NOT ADD EXTRA LINE at the end of the text if the user did not wished so. DO
NOT FORMAT THE TEXT BEHIND USERS BACK.
REMOVE EXTREMELY HARD TO FIGURE OUT/DISCOVER/DEEPLY HIDDEN IN SETTINGS: "Append
newline at the end of file on save".

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Operating System: Arch Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 5.27.5
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.106.0
Qt Version: 5.15.9
