Bug ID: 493779 Summary: Visible feedback when adding or removing tags, ratings, etc. via keyboard Classification: Applications Product: digikam Version: 8.5.0 Platform: Other OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: Usability-Keyboard Assignee: digikam-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: jens-bugs.kde....@spamfreemail.de Target Milestone: --- Created attachment 174166 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=174166&action=edit Screenshot mockup of extended icon bar SUMMARY: see $SUBJECT STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Preview an image 2. Press Ctrl-1 (for "1 star") or Alt-1 (for "red flag") 3. Try to find out whether you have just *added* or *removed* this tag, without looking at the sidebar OBSERVED RESULT You can't find out. There is no visible feedback. EXPECTED RESULT There should be some kind of visible feedback, e.g. a transient hover text in one image corner saying "1 star added" or "red flag removed", or (better) something visible, like in the attachment mockup as an extension to the icon bar that's already visible. The star rating, the flags, color markers and possibly other tags could be displayed there and would always be visible, regardless of the sidebars the user may or may not have activated - and much more prominent when you want to quickly tag or rate a large number of images using the keyboard. It may even be possible to display the selected stars, flag and color marker *as* a clickable icon with a dropdown choice, so that the user can directly change their choice from within the (possibly full screen) preview. Can something like this be integrated into Digikam? SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS: Appimage as of Sep 09, 2024, on KDE Neon 22.04. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
