Stefan said there wasn't any point in adding xcb on top of an X server that didn't actually support xcb. I do not object to its reintroduction if it gives us new (useful) features on OSOL or nv115+. I haven't tried any sound-related stuff recently, not even the login sounds, so I can't say if the gstreamer support is good enough on those two platforms.
