The point is I'd much rather depend on the GNU {iconv,gettext} already 
installed on the system and already available from packages (SUNWgnu-gettext, 
and I can't actually find an iconv package so I assume that SUNWgnu-gettext 
actually uses the Sun system iconv) than drag in our own copies again. 
Multiple copies is bad.
