Thanks to some very helpful comments on my blog and a chat with Joep, IPS packages are actually fairly close. Joep will be experimenting with pushing wednesday's package set (basically what you can get from bionicmutton right now) into an IPS repo on his local LAN (inaccessible). With that bit of testing out of the way we might be able to go to a full IPS repo somewhere to serve up the KDE packages for OSOL 2008.11.
