Hi. I tried to quickly install KDE4 last night by downloading all of the binary SVR4 pkgs to a directory and then, as root installing all of them via pkgadd -d packages all. Or something like that. As it turned out, no application would load when I tried to run them from terminal in CDE (i.e. okular, dolphin, etc.). They kept spitting out error messages which contained "error in ld.so" or "could not load ld.so".
Apparently I am doing something horribly wrong. Would I be better off if I were to build KDE4 from the spec files? If it makes no difference how would one go about installing the binaries. I ask this because I haven't been able to find a README or guide anywhere. The page where one downloads the SVR4's has no link to an instruction manual, etc. Thanks. -- This message posted from opensolaris.org
