Hi, this is really strange. 
Could you share some details about your hardware? 32/64 bit, intel/amd, 
nvidia/ati ...
could you perhaps open gnome-terminal and run /opt/kde-4.2/bin/konsole and 
report back what exactly the error output is?
also the file konsoletruss.txt
truss -fF -o konsoletruss.txt /opt/kde-4.2/bin/konsole
could contain some hints
