Hi, building KDE4 on a machine with virtualbox guest additions used to be not possible. Also the KDE session used to crash right after login, if the additions were present. Thanks to a hint in the upstream bugreport (http://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/5297) KDE4 now plays (relatively) nicely with the vbox guest additions.
Note the 3.1.2 additions are reported to not work with b130/b131. lewellyn provides his own build at http://www.greenviolet.net/articles/2010/01/19/vbox-additions-osol-130.gv, which worked for me. Not all is rosy, kwin seems to force OpenGL and breaks if the 3D acceleration is not enabled in VirtualBox.
