Not sure how that has happened. kdebase depends on libusb, so it should have 
been installed. Perhaps you had a non-ports libusb installed or removed 
libusb from /var/db/ports but not the actual files at some time? Or you just 
deleted it, thinking you didn't need it? :-)

Anyway, just install libusb and everything will be fine.
