For the record: it was not my own stupidity, at least I hope so.

The problem lies with NFS locking on shared /home not working, at
least that's what it seems. I found the solution on
http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031028005216891
which is a mac osx support forum.

I commented the rpc_lockd_enable="YES" line in my client
/etc/rc.conf. This solves the problem with KDE not starting, but the
real problem is just avoided, I guess.

I will now try to find out if I broke something or if it's broken.
