I have tried to check and uncheck the 'Apply colors to non-KDE
applications', but no luck.

As you may notice in my screenshot, I am using VNC to connect to my
desktop, will this be the cause of the problem?

but anyways, I will try to run the programs without KDE. Let you know
the result later on.

Once again, thank you.

You might want to try unchecking it, too.

I still suspect some breakage with your gtk installation - if you can,
try running Firefox/Thunderbird in a desktop environment/window manager
other than KDE and see if the problem persists, this will provide a clue
whether KDE is involved at all or not in this issue.

The problem might also be in the X server itself (driver bug) or in some
image decoder library, but since I can't reproduce the problem I'm
really just shooting in the dark here.

Cheers,
