 portupgrade -rf libgsf\* did the trick.
 
 May I humbly suggest that this needs to go into /usr/ports/UPDATING?
 This is a trap for the unwary and, even, those who like myself try to
 keep things up-to-date via the cvsup/portupgrade mechanism.
