The drivers >support >RealTek, CMedia, Sigmatel and Analog Devices HD Audio codecs. Support for >Intel, >ULI, VIA, ATI, Nvidia and SiS HD controllers (south bridge) is also >provided by >the drivers. > >We are interested in getting reports of the drivers working on various >hardware combinations. The software is available at >http://www.opensound.com/download.cgi > >OSS drivers are free for personal use and include a non-commercial >license. I've installed it in one of my laptops running FreeBSD 6.0-REL and it plays fine the audio with their tool 'osstest'. KDE's sound works as well, but... KDE's artsd (sound server) from time to time raises an error message box saying: AudioSubSystem::handleIO: write failed len = -1, can_write = 8, errno = 35 (Resource temporarily unavailable) which terminates the daemon and KDE restarts it. The older version of OSS did not have had this problem (I had to update because the license expires every 6 monthes :-() The developers of OSS say: > Hi Matthias, > > > There are some bugs in KDE's artsd - we don't know who to contact to and > tell them tofix it because in Gnome it works fine with ESD server. ... Any comments on this? If not I will fire up a bug report in KDE. matthias -- Matthias Apitz Manager Technical Support - OCLC PICA GmbH Gruenwalder Weg 28g - 82041 Oberhaching - Germany t +49-89-61308 351 - f +49-89-61308 399 - m +49-170-4527211 e <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> - w http://www.oclcpica.org/ http://guru.UnixLand.de/ _______________________________________________ kde-freebsd mailing list [email protected] http://freebsd.kde.org/mailman/listinfo/kde-freebsd
