We have nothing to say to the wider KDE audience. Most people have a hint of this git move and thats good. But without actually having proper rulesets in place (a multi man-month job) we have no date, no details etc. Communicating or even opening up to a vote on kde-svn ML that we should move to git without these details (like even a vague impression of *when*) is political suicide. Your points are all very true and you can be sure you are not the only one with this worry. Its a good worry and it will keep us in line to make this go smooth.
