Hi All,

I tried to download (only download) KDE by using Windows installer version 0.9.6 on Windows 2000 but after getting list of files the installer didn't show my any application in packages list. I tried to use both types End-user and Packager but nothing changed! I tried to change compiler package MinGW, MinGW4 and VS but nothing changed too!!!!

what's wrong?
I just run installer version 0.9.6-4, choosed download only, choosed an install root and a temporary folder, choosed the proxy type and selected http://www.winkde.org/pub/kde/ports/win32/releases/ as download source. Then I saw a list of several stable and unstable release. I selected stable latest and saw a list of packages in end user and package manager mode.
Thanks, the problem was in the mirrors. as soon as I input the link above the problem solved.
By the way, I'm wondering why KDE windows installer uses flat text files for its configuration
I'm not sure, what you mean with "its configuration" - are you refering to
1. the main installer config in %APPDAT%/kde/installer.ini
2. the install root related config in <install-root>/etc/installer.ini
3. the package related file lists (mft) located in <install-root>/manifest/
4. the main package configuration (config.txt) located on specific release dir of a download server ?
I mean all of them. I think it's better to store all the configurations in a single database, thus the installer will be more stable for portability because I suffer a lot when I download KDE from coffee net then install it in my home PC. The current installer depending on absolute paths stored in flat text files.
while it's easy to use embedded database such as SQLite?
What is the benefit of using such an embedded database ?

read above plz.
